8th Grade American History


Students will analyze the establishment and development of the Plymouth colony and evaluate its successes and failures as they compare to previous attempts to colonize North America. Students will be able to comparea nd contract the Pilgrims in the Plymouth colony, and the Puritans in the Massachusetts Bay.  Students will focus on the emergence of the psychology of America, its identity and future through colonization.  Students will formulate, appraise and defend an argument based on Roger Williams' and John Winthrop's proposed plans for the Puritans, and their impact on other early colonies. Students will be given class time to create, design and display an advertising brochure of an early American colony.  A guiding rubric has been posted on the podcast, and the due date is Monday, 10/24/11.
