8th Grade American History

Students read and interpret the Townsend Act, and how it became a cause for the American Revolution.  Students will be able to explain the positives and negatives of this Act, and how it made Colonial cities like Boston angry.  Students will examine and analysis of the events leading up to and including Boston Massacre, and the subsequent trial. Students will interpret the events, and formulate a judgment on the case based on evidence and testimony provided during the trial. Students will then apply their conclusions from this event to their broader understanding of the context of the time period. Students will then evaluate early colonial propaganda regarding the Boston Massacre for accuracy, and how different groups view or extort the same event to fit their particular viewpoints.
