Students will participate in a graded in-class debate on 12/7/12. The debate topic is on whether the American Revolution is justified. The rubric for the debate is podcasted, and has been provided to the students. The goal of the debate is not for the students to demonstrate their complete mastery of the causes of the American Revolution. Rather, the goals are to 1) Engage students in constructive, critical thinking and collaborative dialogue 2) Broaden and deepen their understanding of the topic 3) Add new perspectives to utilize in their Google Doc Persuasive Essay.
