8th Grade American History
Students will finish our examination of the U.S. Constitution and the American governmental system. Students will be able to compare, evaluate, and describe the powers and roles of each of the three branches of government with 97% accuracy. Students will be able to explain the elements and purpose of checks and balances with 95% accuracy. Students will be able to synthesize the differences in the bill creation, and amendment creation process with 90% accuracy. Students will be able to identify the each of the first ten amendments by title or by description with 90% accuracy. Students have been given various significant Supreme Court cases form history that have shaped American civil liberties and our understanding of the Bill of Rights. Students will be asked to act as Justices of the Supreme Court, and write majority and minority opinions on seven influential cases from history.
