8th Grade American History

Students will begin studying the decline of Neanderthals and rise of modern man. Students will interpret, appraise, and examine the evidence of the decline of Neanderthals and rise of modern man, and develop and defend a theory resolve the mystery. Student will debate competing theories and using logical and historical reasoning to construct a single theory. Students will be able to fully describe at least 10 adaptations of the Neanderthal, at least 5 extinction theories, and at least 7 adaptations of the Cro-Magnon’s with 95% accuracy. Students will be able to judge why Cro-Magnon man, and not Neanderthal man, dominated the world including the Americas.
